Patient Frequenly Asked Questions

What is compounding?

Compounding is the art of customizing a medication to a specific patient. The medication is prepared in a laboratory using a combination of ingredients, as prescribed by a physician.

Why should I use a compounding pharmacy?

Many patients have special needs when it comes to taking a medication. Some patients cannot swallow a tablet and need their medication put into a different dosage form, such as a liquid or a cream. Others may need a dose that is not available or they may need a medication that has been discontinued or is on back order. Many patients are allergic to the excipients, dyes and fillers used in capsules and tablets and need a “clean” medication. Whatever the need, a compounding pharmacy can help provide medications to patients when they are unable to obtain them from a regular pharmacy.

How are you different than a “regular” pharmacy?

Unlike regular pharmacies that dispense medications that have been mass produced, each medication that we dispense is prepared in our lab. We use state of the art equipment and do extensive research on ingredients and drug therapies to ensure the best medication is provided to you. We specialize in solving medication problems so you can receive a successful therapeutic outcome from your medication.

Do you take my insurance?

In order to provide you with very personalized service, we do not accept any insurance. However, most compounded medications are very cost effective and often less than the patient’s co-pay. We also provide each patient with a universal claim form that they can send to their insurance company for reimbursement. The insurance industry is mainly concerned about profits, we prefer to focus on what is best for your health. We always provide you with a price prior to making your medications so you can decide if you want the prescription.
