  • How are you different than a "regular" pharmacy?

Unlike regular pharmacies that dispense medications that have been mass produced, each medication that we dispense is prepared in our lab. We use state of the art equipment and do extensive research on ingredients and drug therapies to ensure the best medication is provided to you. We specialize in solving medication problems so you can receive a successful therapeutic outcome from your medication.

  • Do you fill non-compounded prescriptions?

Yes we do, however we do not stock many medications. We are happy to order non-compounded medications and have them ready for you in just a couple of days.

  • Can I transfer an existing prescription to your pharmacy?

Absolutely. One of our pharmacists can call your pharmacy to transfer your prescriptions.  We welcome the opportunity to earn your business!

  • How do I know if my hormone levels are within balance?

This is one of the most frequently asked questions by our customers, including both men and women.

For overall good health, both mentally and physically, our hormone levels should be at proper levels and balanced.  When our hormone levels start to lose balance, unwanted symptoms and disorders may occur, causing discomfort and possibly even increasing risk for other disease.

The most common symptoms of hormone imbalance may include:

    • Tiredness and fatigue
    • Foggy thinking and poor concentration
    • Headaches (for cycling women, severe headaches just prior to menstruation)
    • Weight Gain – especially around the abdominal area
    • Irritability and mood fluctuations
    • Infertility
    • Lost zest for life
    • Loss of sexual appetite and desire
    • Depression
    • Vaginal dryness and pain during intercourse

Any of the above physical symptoms may occur at any time in our lives indicating that our hormone levels may need some attention.

  • What is the difference between blood and saliva hormone testing?

Hormone testing is usually done using either collection of blood serum or saliva. Blood serum requires your physician to write a prescription, where as the saliva test kits can be purchased without a physicians prescription and is easy to self administer for patients that may not have a physician or are just interested in the saliva method.  Both methods are commonly used and both have strengths and weaknesses.  Here is what you should consider when deciding which test is right for you.

    Saliva vs. Blood Serum Testing

    Saliva Testing:

Many people believe that saliva testing is the best test available for establishing the true levels of DHEA, Cortisol, Testosterone, Progesterone, and Estrogen in the body. This is because the saliva tests measure the hormones on the cellular level vs. blood serum testing which test how much hormone is in the bloodstream.

Saliva is less invasive than blood testing and is easy and convenient.  The patient simply spits into a tube and mails the sample into the lab.   However, keep in mind that if you are currently using hormone therapy with sublingual dosage forms, such as drops, sprays, or lozenges, this form of testing may not be as accurate as these dosage forms may affect the saliva glands.  Additionally, many insurance companies will not cover the cost of saliva testing.

    Blood Serum Testing

This form of testing has been used for many years and most hospitals and labs use this form of testing.  As a result, insurance companies are familiar with blood testing and often cover the costs of the tests.

The downside of blood testing is that it is considered to be a broad ranging method that measures the hormone at the specific time of collection.  If the patient is stressed out during the testing, the results may not be an accurate picture of what the normal everyday level of hormone is.

There is a lot of controversy about which method is the best and has been an ongoing topic of discussion.  Whichever method you choose, it is best to establish a baseline of your hormone levels and then use the same type of testing for future testing.

  • Why should I use a compounding pharmacy?

Many patients have special needs when it comes to taking a medication. Some patients cannot swallow a tablet and need their medication put into a different dosage form, such as a liquid or a cream. Others may need a dose that is not available or they may need a medication that has been discontinued or is on back order. Many patients are allergic to the excipients, dyes and fillers used in capsules and tablets and need a “clean” medication. Whatever the need, a compounding pharmacy can help provide medications to patients when they are unable to obtain them from a regular pharmacy.

  • What is compounding?

Compounding is the art of customizing a medication to a specific patient. The medication is prepared in a laboratory using a combination of ingredients, as prescribed by a physician.
